Homemade Pumpkin Spice
Pumpkin spice and everything nice. Isn’t that how the saying goes?!
There is a lot that you can do with this pumpkin spice recipe and it is a staple for fall baking. This festive spice mixture is simple, made with only 4 ingredients, and will add a spark of pumpkin spice flavor to your favorite drinks and treats. Sure, you can buy pumpkin spice pre-made at the store but a lot of us have these four ingredients already in our pantry. So let’s save a bit of money and get baking!
What can I make with pumpkin spice?
There are so many fall recipes out there that call for pumpkin spice or pumpkin pie spice. I'm talking about hundreds of recipes (probably more). I’m sure you won’t have trouble finding ways to use it.
One of my favorite things to use pumpkin spice in is pumpkin pie bars or pumpkin snickerdoodle cookies. These classics are a fall favorite around my house so it’s helpful to have a batch of pumpkin spice waiting in the pantry. Another way to use pumpkin spice is in coffee drinks! Homemade pumpkin spice lattes are a go-to for fall!
How to store homemade pumpkin spice
Store this homemade pumpkin spice mixture the same way you store all of your other spices. I use a small mason jar and label the lid so I can easily identify which spice mix it is. If you’re looking for spice jars, there are some adorable jar options on Amazon. These are handy for homemade spices or just to organize your mix-match spices to make them look more cohesive.
If your pumpkin spice has been sitting for a while, give the jar a little shake (with the lid on, of course) to mix it up if any settling occurs. I often make homemade taco seasoning and have to do the same thing if it hasn’t been used in a while. Once it’s mixed, simply scoop out the amount you need and store the leftover back in your spice cabinet.
