Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte
Prepare to be amazed at how simple it is to make your own pumpkin spice lattes at home! I was a skeptic at first but those expensive Starbucks drinks can add up. To save a few dollars, I took it upon myself to do a little recipe testing. And that’s how this recipe was born!
Being a food blogger, I have to think of holidays and seasons a little ahead of everyone else. So back in August I was already dreaming up new pumpkin creations and of course knew I needed to add a pumpkin spice latte recipe to the site. There’s something about a warm cup of spiced coffee that says “cozy fall vibes” that everyone loves. But making it at home is even extra cozy!
Ingredients In Homemade Pumpkin Spice Lattes
There aren't that many ingredients in this recipe for how flavorful it is. The pumpkin spice is key to get those classic fall vibes and the coconut milk adds the creaminess without the dairy.
Here are the ingredients you’ll need to create your own pumpkin spice latte:
- Regular Coffee: I like to use medium or dark roast coffee for lattes like this. You can also use espresso if you have an espresso maker or decaf.
- Coconut Milk: I like to use coconut milk so it’s extra creamy but oat milk or almond milk work great too! If you don’t need it to be dairy free, feel free to use your preferred milk.
- Pumpkin Puree: Make sure the pumpkin puree is 100% pumpkin with no added ingredients. You don’t want to use pumpkin pie filling.
- Pumpkin Spice: We have a recipe for homemade pumpkin spice on the blog for your convenience. You could also try pumpkin pie spice that is pre-made if you have it on hand.
- Honey: For a little extra sweetness. You could use maple syrup instead if you wanted.
- Vanilla Extract: Just a touch of vanilla for added flavor.
How do I make a pumpkin spice latte at home?
It's really pretty simple! There are only a few ingredients you need to heat up and stir before you're on your way to enjoying a warm cup of fall bliss!
Follow these steps:
- In a small saucepan, add all the ingredients besides the vanilla extract. Heat and stir to combine. Once the coffee has reached the desired temperature, take it off the heat and add the vanilla extract. Stir and pour into a coffee mug.
- This recipe is for one serving. Feel free to add coconut whipped cream and a little extra spice on top, if desired. You could also froth or steam some of your desired milk for the top.
What kind of coffee should I use in Pumpkin Spice Lattes?
You can use whatever type of coffee you prefer! I make mine using either medium or dark coffee beans. Espresso, decaf or cold brew can also be used instead of regular brewed coffee.
