The ultimate strawberry banana smoothie that is perfect for breakfast, snack or quick meal! It’s made with only a few healthy whole ingredients and is dairy free, paleo, and SCD diet friendly.
I love a good smoothie. This strawberry banana smoothie is goooood. I find myself craving it at night when I know I’m going to be making it the next day for breakfast.
I’m here for a full breakfast too, don’t get me wrong, but smoothies are so easy to make and convenience has been a high priority since having a baby. Gone are the days where I could spend more than 5 minutes making breakfast for myself. If I did that now, my toddler would be done with her breakfast and ready to play, leaving me hungry until nap time.
Ingredients for the best strawberry banana smoothie
Strawberries: I am a huge fan of strawberries so we usually have a bag of frozen or fresh strawberries on hand. Either fresh or frozen will work in this smoothie recipe.
Banana: Pro tip: If you have a banana that is too ripe for your liking, peel it and put it in a freezer bag. Put it in the freezer to use for later in smoothies like this one.
Avocado: If you’ve never tried avocado in a smoothie before, you are missing out! The avocado creates such a nice creamy texture that is so delicious.
Coconut Milk: I use light coconut milk but you could also try any dairy free milk if you prefer.
Cashew Butter: The cashew butter that I use is made with just cashews, no added sugars. I prefer cashew butter in this smoothie but you could try other nut butters.
Honey: It adds a bit of sweetness to this smoothie.
Vanilla Extract: I always add a little vanilla flavoring to my smoothies, it’s so good!
Can I use fresh fruit?
Yes, you can use fresh fruit instead of frozen in this smoothie recipe. The smoothie may not be as cold if you use fresh strawberries and bananas. I’d suggest adding a couple ice cubes if you want the drink to be colder.
Optional Add-Ins
The great thing about smoothies is that they are so easy to customize! Feel free to add other fruits and veggies that you have on hand that you think would go well in this smoothie. I like to add spinach or kale to add a little bit of greens and extra nutrients.
